Clear aligners in Cocoa Village

Removable, nearly invisible trays that gradually move your teeth, and an honest answer on whether they suit you.

What clear aligners are

Clear aligners are a series of removable, nearly invisible trays that gradually move your teeth into a new position. Each tray differs a little from the one before it, so the teeth shift a small amount at a time rather than all at once.

Because the trays can be taken out, you remove them to eat and to brush your teeth. They are typically worn most of the day and night, and the result depends on wearing them as directed.

Who clear aligners suit

Aligners are often suited to mild to moderate crowding, to spacing between teeth and to some bite concerns. If you would like straighter teeth without braces, they are worth asking about.

Not every case is right for aligners. Some cases need a different approach, and we will say so plainly rather than start something that is unlikely to give you the result you want.

Whether aligners suit you depends on your teeth, your gums and what you would like to change, which is why it begins with an examination. Dr. Zakhary provides clear aligner treatment and will tell you honestly whether it suits your case.

How treatment works

  1. Consultation and exam

We begin with a conversation about what you would like to change, followed by an examination of your teeth and gums. This is where we find out whether aligners suit your case.

  2. Your plan

If aligners are a good fit, the plan for your case is explained to you, along with what it involves and what it costs, before you decide anything.

  3. Wearing your aligners

New trays come on a schedule, and each one moves your teeth a little further. Attachments may be used on some teeth to help the trays hold and move them, and we check your progress at visits along the way.

  4. Retainers to keep your result

When your teeth are where they should be, you wear retainers so that they stay there. Teeth can drift back over time without them, so retainers are an important part of treatment.

Living with aligners

Aligners only work while they are in, which is why they are typically worn most of the day and night. You take them out to eat and to brush, and you put them back in afterward.

The trays come out for meals, so you eat without them in. It helps to brush before putting them back, so that food is not held against your teeth.

The trays need cleaning as well, and we will explain how at your visit. Keeping them in their case whenever they are out is the simplest way to avoid losing them.

Cost and financing

The cost of clear aligners depends on your case. It is discussed with you before you start, and we talk through payment options at the same time.

Questions we get asked

Do they hurt?

Many people feel some pressure or tenderness when they start a new tray, because the teeth are being asked to move. It usually eases as your teeth adjust.

How long does treatment take?

It depends on the case. Some are shorter and others take longer, and Dr. Zakhary can give you a realistic idea once he has examined your teeth.

Can I eat with them in?

No, the trays are removed to eat. You put them back in after you have eaten, and it helps to brush first.

Will people notice?

The trays are clear and nearly invisible, though not completely so. Someone looking closely may notice them, but they are much less obvious than braces.

What happens after?

You wear retainers to keep the result. Teeth can drift back toward their old positions without them, so we will explain how and when to wear yours.
